Some of us have ultra-sensitive skin when it comes to the chemicals found in most beauty products. These can become anti-beauty products quickly when hives and rashes break out! Many beauty products contain the same ingredients and chemicals across many recognizable brands. If you are looking for something more natural with less chemicals and less opportunities for rashes and breakouts look no further! Here is a quick list of all-natural beauty supplies that could work for you!
Sea Salt Hair Texturing Spray: If the smell and fume of hairspray has you coughing and sneezing, try sea salt texturing spray. This comes in many different brands and is even something you can make at home. It is, at the base level, sea salt water. Have you gone home from the beach to find your hair is holding itself in place? That's the magic of sea salt. While we may not want it to feel like we just popped out of the ocean, it can be a great way to give some texture and hold your hair for those beachy waves! Coconut Oil: Along with teeth whitening, skin moisturizing and lip treatments, coconut oil can be used in your hair, scalp, and eyelashes! It's a natural remedy for almost anything that needs moisturizing and growth. Some lotions contain perfumes and chemicals, and when rubbed all over your body, can cause uncomfortable rashes and hives. Coconut oil can be a great alternative and a little goes a LONG way! No more guessing at store-bought lotions waiting for the other foot to drop (other foot being hives, Ouch!) Try something natural and simple to help moisturize your skin. Homemade Scrub: Need some exfoliation without the redness and rash? For our sensitive skin people the store-bought exfoliants can often be WAY too harsh. Simple sugar, coconut oil and your favorite extract oil can create a wonderful body/face scrub to keep you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. We need to exfoliate our skin about twice a week to remove dead skin and promote new skin cell growth. This is not something you should shy away from just because other products have left you feeling like you finished microdermabrasion therapy when in fact your just washing your face! BONUS: Peppermint and cinnamon can be great essential oils to include in holiday scrubs. These are also great to give as gifts. Make the scrub, put it in a mason jar, tie a festive ribbon and you've just won Christmas! Exfoliated and crafty; a win-win!
